Legacy International Curriculum

Objectives

Legacy International is an early childhood education that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with an experiential learning curriculum. This allows children to gain academic skills to practical real-world applications, as well as develop creative and innovative approaches to solving challenges they are faced with.

Why STEM and experiential learning? A STEM and experiential learning education stimulate innovation, creativity, exploration, discovery, critical thinking as well as problem solving skills, resulting in a well-rounded child. Through STEM and experiential learning children become autonomous thinkers. Moreover, this learning style equip children with the necessary skills to navigate the world around them. Children being able to draw their own conclusions on different subject matters is the best way children learn and develop. How it works The famous children’s tale of Humpty Dumpty can have an applicational value through a STEM lens by encouraging insightful and thought-provoking discussions among the students.


● Read the story and ask thought-provoking questions such as “Why do you think Humpty Dumpty fell?” (Language Arts)
● How fast did Humpty Dumpty fall? (Science/ Math)
● In small groups work on designing a Humpty Dumpty that will not break if it fell. (Engineering)
● Use a variety of tools and material to construct this new Humpty Dumpty. (Technology)
● Test the durability of the various Humpty Dumpty created different height levels. (Science/ Math)
● Chart the outcomes of the durability testing and compare the results. (Math)
● Discuss and formulate a new story using the children’s ideas. (Language Arts).

Objectives 2- year old Children at 2-years old are trying to understand the world they live in through touch and exploration. This program provides children with:

Early Preschool To help your Child develop their interpersonal skills, we provide a balance freedom and instructional environment. This program encourages discovery of self and the world through:

● Immersive learning experiences
● Developing verbal skills

Preschool To understand self and their relation to others, children at the Preschool level often ask Why? Our program is designed to help them build the skills and confidence to find the answers to their questions. This program focuses on:

● Independence and freedom of expression
● Hands-on learning
● Exploration of nature through gardening
● Developing language skills and number counting
● Effective communication skills

To prepare your child for Kindergarten and optimal academic success, we challenge our students to be autonomous thinkers. The Pre-K and junior Pre-K program provides emphasis on:

● Critical- thinking
● Creativity and problem-solving
● French
● Exploration of nature through gardening
● Social and interpersonal skills
● Following multi-step instructions
● Listening and working with others

Our personalized Kindergarten Curriculum encourages independence as well as helps children build long lasting competence skills necessary for success in elementary school and beyond. This program helps children improve skills such as:

● Independent reading
● Using scientific method to understand the world they live in
● French and English
● Writing in complete sentences
● Counting, place values, addition, and subtraction
